It has not had that review, and the marked fields below are still unfilled. It does not yet describe binding terms, and this page stays out of search engines until it does.
Children's Privacy
Effective [[EFFECTIVE_DATE]]
This page is for parents and carers. It is written in plain language on purpose. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy, but if you only read one page about your child, read this one.
Vunali is made for children aged two to eight.
What we collect about your child
Nothing. There are no child profiles in Vunali. The app never asks for your child's name, nickname, age, date of birth, photograph or voice, and nothing your child does in the app is sent to us.
The app does remember, on your device only, which tales have been opened, how far through each one your child is, and which are favourites, so a story can pick up where it stopped. That record never leaves the device, and deleting the app deletes it.
What we never collect about your child
- No name, nickname, age or date of birth
- No photograph, video or voice recording
- No address, phone number or email address
- No location of any kind
- No contacts, calendar, camera or microphone access
- No advertising identifier
- No record of what your child reads, how far, or for how long
- No free-text box where a child could type something that reaches us
We do not advertise to your child
There is no advertising in Vunali. No banners, no video ads, no sponsored tales, no cross-promotion of other apps, no advertising identifier, and no advertising network in the app at all.
We also do not build a profile of your child, do not target anything at them based on their behaviour, and do not sell or share any information for those purposes.
We do not embed other companies' tracking software
Many children's apps include software from analytics and advertising companies that quietly collects data in the background. Vunali contains none. There is no Google Analytics, no Firebase, no Meta SDK, no advertising network, and no third-party crash-reporting tool.
We do not collect usage statistics of our own either. We could have recorded which tales are opened and asked you to tick a box. We decided that a tick box in a settings screen is not honest consent for building a picture of a two-year-old's reading, so we do not do it at all.
This costs us something worth naming: we cannot tell which tales children finish and which they abandon. If you want to tell us, we would genuinely like to hear it, and the address is at the end of this page.
The three pieces of other companies' software that are in the app
We would rather name them than let the paragraph above be technically true and practically misleading.
Apple's Sign in with Apple and Google's Sign in with Google libraries let a parent use an account they already have instead of inventing another password. Neither measures anything. They exist to show that company's own sign-in screen and hand back a signed token; they collect no usage data, run no background reporting, and carry no advertising identifier. Both sit behind the parent gate, on the sign-in screen. If a parent never signs in, neither one ever runs. What Apple and Google learn is that someone signed in to Vunali, and nothing about your child or what is read.
RevenueCat's library makes the paid-access screens work. Unlike the other two, it starts when the app starts, because it has to know whether the store already holds a purchase for the device. It does so anonymously: it tells RevenueCat the app and platform versions, the store country and any purchase receipts, and nothing about your child, what is read, or who you are. It collects no advertising identifier and runs no analytics. Buying anything happens only behind the parent gate.
Everything that concerns accounts and money is behind the parent gate
Signing in, buying access, deleting the account and the parent room's settings all sit behind a parent gate, a step designed to stop a young child going further by accident. A few reading options, such as automatic page turning and text size, sit in the reader itself, because they change nothing about data or money. Your child cannot make a purchase without passing the gate and the store's own confirmation, and cannot contact anyone through the app, because there is no messaging, no comments, no sharing and no user-generated content anywhere in Vunali.
Your child cannot talk to anyone in Vunali
There is no chat, no comments, no forums, no profiles other people can see, no sharing, and no way for anyone outside your household to reach your child through this app.
Deleting what the app remembers
Deleting the app from a device removes the reading progress, favourites and downloaded tales stored on it. Your account, if you have one, is deleted from the parent room or by writing to us, and everything else is described in Data Rights and Deletion. You never have to explain why.
For families in the United States (COPPA)
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act governs personal information collected online from children under 13.
- We do not collect personal information from children. Nothing about a child, and nothing a child does in the app, is sent to us.
- The app uses one persistent identifier: the random installation identifier described in section 2.1 of the Privacy Policy. We use it only to support the internal operations of the app: to keep the service working and secure, and to know which stories a paid purchase has unlocked on that device. COPPA permits this without parental consent (16 C.F.R. § 312.5(c)(7)). We never use it to contact a child, to build a profile, or for advertising, and we never disclose it for those purposes.
- Accounts, sign-in and paid purchases are for adults and sit behind the parent gate. The information in an account belongs to the parent who created it.
- Because we collect no personal information from children, we do not ask for verifiable parental consent. If we ever add a feature that would collect a child's personal information, we will update this page first and obtain verifiable parental consent, by a method the FTC recognises, before that feature collects anything.
- We do not disclose any information to third parties for advertising, and we do not permit third-party behavioural advertising in the app.
- You may ask what we hold, ask us to delete it, and refuse any further collection, by writing to [email protected].
For families in the EU, EEA and UK
The age at which a child can consent to an online service for themselves differs by country, between 13 and 16. Vunali does not rely on a child's consent for anything: the only personal data we hold belongs to the adult who created an account, or is the random installation identifier the app needs to work.
We have assessed Vunali against the fifteen standards of the UK Information Commissioner's Children's Code (the Age Appropriate Design Code), together with a data protection impact assessment, in our internal record ref. VUN-CC-2026-01. In short: privacy settings are at their most protective by default, we collect the minimum, we do not profile children, we use no nudge techniques to encourage a child to give up more data or stay longer, and there is no advertising. You may ask us for a summary of that assessment.
